The diary Memoria Rerum Quarundam Belli Hungarici Adversus Domum Austriacam Anno MDCCIII Suscepti Descripta per JOHANNEM TSETSI SAAROS-PATACHINI 1705., housed in the Library of the Sárospatak Reformed College, is traditionally attributed to János Csécsi (Tsétsi) the Younger. However, it appears that the section describing events between 1703 and 1705 may have been authored by Csécsi (Tsétsi) the Elder, with the subsequent portion written by his son. This hypothesis of dual authorship requires a thorough and multi-faceted analysis. The manuscript must be examined in terms of its paper, ink, letterforms, and abbreviations, while the philological aspects—such as word usage, grammatical structures, and stylistic features—should also be studied to confirm or refute the hypothesis. Additionally, comparing the original manuscript with copies, other works by both Csécsi (Tsétsi), and the published edition by Kálmán Thaly is essential for verifying or disproving this theory.
