Tartalom

The study reveals that the National Széchényi Library (Budapest) holds a manuscript sermon volume on the Virgin Mary by Pater Frater Moyses Szentes. Szentes copied nearly half of the sermons from the first volume of József Teleki’s Twelve Star Crown (1768), sometimes compiling them, and adapted them to suit Transylvanian circumstances. Moyses Szentes served for a long time as the “predicator generalis” of the Transylvanian Franciscan Province in Csíksomlyó. Between 1776 and 1781, he also held the office of president of the local St. Anthony of Padua Society. Additionally, a large volume of his sermons (Conciones dominicales, et festivales, Pars quarta, 1781) is preserved in Gyulafehérvár, in which a booklet of funeral formulas (Formulae valedictionum funebrium) is bound. Szentes’s sermons align well with the emotional style typical of Transylvanian Franciscans. An example is the text of a sermon he preached at a Pentecostal feast in Csíksomlyó, which is presumably extant.
